F1 Visa: Interviewed by 2 Visa Officers in Germany

Hi Guys,
I hope everybody is getting their expected results. My visa got approved last week (end of July) and I received my passport yesterday.

Guys it was really very nice experience, actually I was bit worried before interview, I want to share my experience as I took a lot from HSB and I must give something from my side as well.

I gave my F1 visa interview in Germany as I’m studying here so that I applied for my visa from here.

My interview was taken by 2 Persons and it went to long may be around 15-20 minutes.

F1 Visa Germany – First Interview

VO 1: Hello
Me: Good Afternoon Mam,

VO 1: How long have you been here in Germany?
Me: Told details,

VO 1: Have you traveled around the Europe in Vacations?
Me: No Mam,

VO 1: Why?, several people travel around the Europe as all countries are very near,
Me: Explained Why?

VO 1: Have you visited to your family in vacation?
Me: No Mam
VO 1: Why?
Me: Explained,

VO 1: Show me your CV?
Me: Mam, I didn’t bring CV

VO 1: She saw towards me and smile
VO 1: Show me your sponsorship Letter?
Me: I gave the letter what I received from my Professor,

VO 1: What are you doing here?
Me: I’m doing my Second Master in ……

VO 1: When you’ll finish it?
Me: In October 2012

VO 1: Who’ll give funding for your study?
Me: University has approved me Graduate Research Assistantship for my PhD,
VO 1: Please seat, Our Senior Consulate will call you again.

I was bit worried because I didn’t know why she might have told me to seat? (But, I was confident as well because I was having all genuine documents and true information), after 5 minutes my number was displayed again on screen and I went to that counter

F1 Visa Germany – Second Intervieew

VO 2: Hello Mr. Nankar, How are you? with big smile (very jolly man),
Me: I’m fine sir with smile,

VO 2: Who is accompanied you here in Germany?
Me: I’m alone sir,

VO 2: Do you have any relative here in Germany?
Me: No Sir,

VO 2: Do you have any relative in US?
Me: No Sir,

VO 2: Who will accompanied you in US?
Me: I’m going alone, (While he was looking at the letter of Sponsorship)

VO 2: What are you doing here?
Me: I’m Doing second Master in ……

VO 2: Do you want to continue here?
Me: No Sir.

VO 2: Why you are going to US?
Me: I’m going for PhD in ……. at …..,

VO 2: Whether your German University will allow you to go USA while in between?
Me: Yes Sir, It’s upto me, I spoke to my concern Professor here and he told me that If you fill that you’ll get more prospects then you should go,

VO 2: Really Very Good & Rational Suggestion (With Big Smile)
Me: Yes Sir,

VO 2: In which subject you’ll do your PhD?
Me: I’ll do my PhD in Plant & Environmental Science

VO 2: Good (With Big Smile),
Me: Also Gave Big Smile,

VO 2: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: I mention that University will give me Graduate Research Assistantship,

VO 2: Said you’ll get good salary for your PhD?
Me: Yes Sir with Big Smile,

VO 2: How long will you stay there (While looking on Computer Screen),
Me: Four Years,
VO 2: Oh,, Too Long,
Me: Yes Sir, For PhD it’s common,

VO 2: Do you have any police complained against you?
Me: No Sir,Never,

VO 2: Good (With Big Smile) & Said I’m approving your Visa and You’ll received your passport in next 8-10 days.
Me: Thank You Sir (Actually, I couldn’t find the words that what Should I say to him).
VO 2: Have a nice stay in US, Have a nice day.
Me: Have a nice day sir.

This is what I face, it was really very nice experience.

  2. Iam just confused ! Is this a visa interview for masters in germany or US ? and why does the VO mention “Have a nice stay in US” when he is going to Germany ?

      1. Does that mean that he is going to do half his phd in germany and the rest in US ? What are the prospects of getting a job in US after your phd because you will be on a german visa right ?
