Which TOEFL Test Centers are Safe?

Recently ETS have cancelled TOEFL test scores of Test takers who took TOEFL in certain TOEFL test centers.

HSB reader sent the following TOEFL Test center review. Do contribute your TOEFL center experience.

Good TOEFL Test Center

I Just want you to collect experiences about different TOEFL centres so that the candidates can avoid the ‘ not that great to take a TOEFL test’ Centres

I Took my TOEFL exam at Sacred Heart College Ernakulam,Kerala

The Centre was good in all aspects

The headset and microphone quality was excellent

The room was air conditioned

They provided snacks and drinks at breaks

The Restroom was a bit far, but not that far.

The support staff was really helpful and friendly.

I want all the others to pitch in so HSB can make a detailed post with reviews about the different testing centres

  1. Hey guys, i have been to two test centers in the past two months, first one was at Panjim, overall experience was terrible, the admin was not that friendly and also the AC was too cold.. , one side of the headset wasn’t working and they weren’t willing to replace it either. unfortunately/ fortunately the Entire internet connection got shut, the admin said it was because of the cyber war problem? ok so i needed an urgent reschedule , this time in trivandrum, the center was inside Ruby hotel. the experience here was excellent as the hotel was a real nice place to stay with the test center next door, appropriate lockers were provided and the admins were super friendly, definitely a great center for anyone nearby…

  2. Qutab Institutional Area, Delhi is pathetic to its core. Rate it 0/10 in anything to be called as a professional test center, be it lab, noisy environment, never ending chaos, computer hardware, staff behavior, issue resolution and response to all that creates with the combination of these. A set of completely under-trained folks are running the responsibility of this center who don’t even have a presence of sense to respond to the urgent complaints of students. They ignore is persistently to make just one point which they repeat 100 times “This is how we have been running for years”
@ETS : I am in the state of shock to your choice of approving this 10×15 space cramped with students shelling out huge money to deserve anything but such a repulsive treatment to their hard work.
High time….please allow the students of India to receive at least one thing they deserve – right to a genuine professional education service

  3. hi..
This is regarding the TOEFL reading section. I gave TOEFL in jan 2012 with a score of 97 but I have to give TOEFL again with atleast 100 for a scholarship at a particular university. Problem was.. As soon as my neighbors started their speaking section, I totally lost my concentration in the passage which resulted in 19/30. So I wanted to know that what I should do to ensure that this doesn’t happens this time… ??

  4. Hi Friends, I slotted date for my TOEFL on Feb 11th, Do any1 know how is test centre @ CHRIST COLLEGE,near dairy circle,Bangalore.. Please respond to my query and help me..

  5. i want to take up toefl center in either gujarat or mumbai. please suggest me some good centers in these two states.

  6. I took my TOEFL at Stella Maris, Chennai. It is a horrible center. Even a 10th grade examination would be conducted better. The exam was conducted in a computer lab. The computers were so packed that the environment was more like an 8th grade computer practical examination. The lab, though air conditioned, was suffocating. There was disturbance all the time, people used to walk around and talk like they were not bothered about people writing tests. Overall, I found nothing good about the center.

  7. I feel Stella maris college, chennai for toefl suited me well because Instructors were friendly,Quiet environment,More over you feel like being in college rather than some test center

  8. Beware of horrible test center at Chennai !
    @
    Adyar
    Everonn Education Limited
No.6, Sorrento Buildings, 1st floor, Near standard chatered Bank,

If i were the ets official with power, I suggest a lot of improvement in all the aspects!

    1. one of my friend and I face the problems with servers in Nizamabad center and this month one more friend given exam there but he did not face any probs.

      1. looking at availability,,,I feel that there will be less noise as compared to other centres…
and very few people must be taking exam there….right…waiting ur suggestions…thanx.

  9. Trusted TOEFL CENTER in Chennai !!!

I am writing my experience to benefit TOEFL Test takers to avoid any further cancellations / frauds. Please do not register for TOEFL under consultancies especially in Hyderabad. Basically i am from Hyderabad, still i do not support test takers taking under consultancies.

I took TOEFL in Everoon Systems, Ashok nagar, Chennai on November 26th 2011.

    Few points useful 😛

    1. The center is within the city.
    2. The test started at right time.
    3. Facilities were good.
    4. Staff was very co-operative.
    5. Head-set and microphone provided were really in good condition.
    6. The most required quality for all . . . . . . . . . . . the staff gave a very very NICE option for attempting the test when ever the students want to take from 9am to 10:30am (thought the
    right time was at 10am)

The last point will really help students. The one who came early at 8:30 am started at 9am. They completed the Speaking section 1 hour before so they had no disturbances. The staff will send the students inside the center as per the ‘First come first serve’ basis. Also the students who came by 9:50am were allowed to start the test at 10:20am as it takes time to take a photo and allow the staff to explain the rules per batch (batch = 2 students).

THE BOTTOM LINE: Don’t take test under consultancies & Arrive test center @ the earliest for silent speaking section. 😛

  10. I took TOEFL at the testing center at Mulund (Mumbai).

    – Staff was helpful and friendly and IDed me properly.
    – Testing room was very small and cramped, but there were only around 10-15 people in my time slot so it wasn’t THAT bad except when the test required speaking and people didn’t attempt to speak softly.
    – Testing room was air-conditioned as well.
    – Lockers were provided to keep your belongings safe.
    – Loo was just a few steps away and decent.
    – Supplies were good. Lots of pencils, papers, good headset and good computer.
    – Tea was provided in the break.

So overall it was a good and relaxed experience and nothing seemed to be off.

  11. I took the TOEFL test at Qutab Institutional Area, Delhi in Oct ’11. It was a “safe” test centre I believe. Everything was in place and working, staff too was friendly and helpful. Everything went pretty cool and convenient, as it is one of the new centres and not the old ones.

  12. The TOEFL centre in Dehradun is extrmly bad.It is the only centre in whole Uttarakhand. It’s name is Rosemount school and is a coaching institute for GRE and IELTS.I gave my TOEFL here in Jan 2011.My exam started at 10 am and ended at 5 pm..The computer got hanged everytime. No snacks was provided from morning till evening..

    1. hi..i am also planning to give TOEFL. i Live in IIT and dehra is nearest town..should i change my test center.(i have not scheduled my test) ???

    2. hi..i am also planning to give TOEFL. i Live in IIT roorkee and dehra is nearest town..should i change my test center.(i have not scheduled my test) ???

      1. @Tarang-See it all depends on luck bt its better not to take any chances.I also went from roorkee to dehradun to give the test.My GRE verbal score is 620 bt due to the poor test centre I cud manage only 86 in TOEFL..

  13. Hello,
I second that! My test was there as well. The only possible issue I faced is that the webcam photo they took was extremely dark and I am hardly visible.
