I'm Building a New Intel Based PC

corsair 300r computer caseI’m building a new PC from scratch.  I debated between iMac and PC  for over2 months, but decided to build a PC.

Right now I have a 5 year old HP with AMD Dual Core processor. I’m having problems with LAN port, even after adding a new PCI LAN card.

I wouldn’t be able to update an iMac and installing SSD is not an easy task. So, I decided to build a PC on my own.

I will be ordering the following parts in a day for new PC.

Case$75AmazonCorsair Carbide Series 300R

RAM$49AmazonCorsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800)
Power Supply$25NewEggCORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2
Card Reader$10NewEggSABRENT CRW-UINB 68-in-1 USB 2.0
SSD$69NewEggOCZ Vertex 3 120GB

HDD$107AmazonSeagate Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB

I already have 2 HP 20″ Monitors, Logitech Wireless Mouse, DVD drive.

I might buy a new Keyboard (haven’t decide which one).

Total cost of the above configuration comes to $609.

What do you think about the configuration?

  1. i think u missed the main component——> GRAPHIC CARD

and i think u have posted this question on the wrong site ——> it’s not a tech forum !!!

  2. Hey that’s actually an excellent configuration. How ever I feel 2GB graphic card would be a good add-on. But its up to you and your requirement. If you are looking for a wireless keybord or mouse, I suggest you not to take. The signals between system and device might get disturbed depending on the external sounds. That might effect the system interaction with the devices.

Please post any information about the visa interviews. I have an interview in few days.

    All the best.
    Have a great day ahead.

    1. I have wireless mouse. Plan to use the ps2 keyboard for now. I’m not a gamer, so onboard hdmi and dvi would be sufficient.

  3. My personal preference is AMD processors. They’re far more reliable and can run under extreme conditions at a lower cost. Besides, I think for non-gamers lot of processing power (and money spent on it) is a waste. I’d rather get an AMD QC proc and higher RAM if I really need to invest to build a powerhouse.

For home PC, that Intel proc wouldn’t really be used at all because the environments are pretty load-free.

    1. Not sure what u r saying. watch a video AMD vs INTEL in youtube. U will know!!

      1. I have had AMD for last 7 years. Decided to buy i5-3450 this time around.

      2. AMD always wins in price to performance. However, I do agree Intel has superior performance ( besides I never denied that).

  4. You will get a ~ 15 inch laptop/notebook computer with the above or even better config..
Check HP, Dell other website and dont forget to put in some suitable discount coupons readily available on some websites!

  5. Assuming that you will use the SSD as your system + app disk and either store your work directly on ur 2TB disk or copy work from SSD to 2 TB disk often.

If this is your usecase, I will suggest not going with OCZ, In my opinion, they fail far more often than ATA/Kingston/Intel/Samsung.

I play with SSDs all day and I know this from experience.

How important is fast HDD performance?

      1. IMO if you can find any other SSD at a minor difference in cost, go for it. If not, I think you have got a good system on hand.

I won’t worry about graphics etc at this point as you can add them later if you need.

  6. why reinventing the wheel? shouldn’t a black friday sale is cheaper??

    1. Yes, Black Friday is cheap and I can’t wait till November to build a PC.

  7. nice work dude 🙂 i would like to build one from scratch too 🙂
