Here’s an estimated timeline for Admission to Fall 2017 semester.
  • Deadlines: Oct 2016 to April 2017
  • Take Tests: Any time before March 2017
  • Admission Results: Jan to May 2017
  • F1 Visa: June to Aug, 2017
  • Arrive in USA: Aug 2017


Most Graduate School accepts students for Fall and Spring semesters. Some program have admission open only for Fall Semesters. I came to USA in Spring and all my friends who came with me graduates, found part time jobs or had scholarships.  If you happen to miss the Fall semester admission deadline, there’s no reason to wait until next Fall to Apply. You should apply for Spring Semester.

Following is a generic checklist, but this should give an overview of what to expect during the admission process.

Each college should have it’s specific set of admission requirements. Refer to university website of the college you plan to apply for additional details

  • Photocopy of Passport Biographical pages
  • Submit Online Application (or Common Application)
  • Pay Application Fees
  • Test Scores – GRE, GMAT, MCAT, etc
  • English Test Scores – TOEFL, IELTS
  • Education Documents
  • All College Level transcripts (Official Diplomas or Mark Sheets or Transcripts)
  • Financial Affidavit (with Bank statement)
  • Submit application before the deadline
  • Scholarship Application Form (if required)
