F1 Visa Interview – Bachelors in Fashion Merchandising – New York
I am Graduating with a Bachelors Degree In Fashion Design from NIFT, Mumbai this June. My GPA is 3.5/4. I gave my visa interview a few days back and it was rejected.
I have applied to the Associate degree in Fashion Merchandising for Fall semester.
My F1 visa interview – Fashion
VO: So, you are going to the Fashion institute of Technology.
A : Yes Ma’am,I am going to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.VO: Tell me your present college’s name ?
A: Ma’am its National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai.VO: So why AAS?
A: Ma’am I want to pursue my Bachelors in Fashion Merchandising, but to be eligible to apply for the Bachelors I am first required to complete the AAS as my area of major is changing from Fashion Design to a business major.VO: She again remarked, saying why AAS then ?
A: I simplified my above answer but I believe I could not convince the VO properly.VO: What are your future plans?
A: Ma’am I want to launch my own designer label in India after completing my studies and the study Of Fashion Merchandising will be of great help for my business plans.VO: I am sorry I can’t grant you the visa at this point.
A: Thank you Ma’m
She handed me back my passport with a white sheet of paper which had the 214(b) act stated on it and she said that I may reapply with sufficient documents.
Now, I need help with what went wrong in this Interview. I want to reapply as I want to study Fashion Merchandising at FIT in NYC as it is the best Institute for Fashion Merchandising.
When should I reapply for my 2nd Interview? And what should I correct in my answers?
The Visa Officer was not convinced enough about your Future Plans about coming back to launch your label.
Sometimes, the way you describe your plans comes into play.
Looks, like you weren’t convincing enough for the Visa Officer.
You should try again. But, make sure you have more details about your future plans and why you have to study Associates before starting Bachelors.
omg. This is freaking me out. I got an admit for Fall 2013 (FIT nyc). Did you go from your interview again? How did it go?
when the vo ask u y AAS u should first read the school’s profile and see what is really good about the school that is where u turn the table down
Well the answer for “why ASS” was not clear. She was expecting your answer to be more informative on the course you selected. modifying the answer in terms of things you would study in an associated degree. Try and portray that AAS degree in your field is the best for you!!!
Really, I think its all about the answer U????? gave. When the VO asked U????? what where your future plans….I really can’t think of a convincing answer to that…anyone with better answer can please share it. Sorry for the denial…it is well!
