GRE and GMAT Scores for UTA – University of Texas at Arlington

A couple of days back I wrote about the Average GRE Test scoring for various schools in the USA , including for University of Virginia.

A few students have requested from the comments for GRE Scores for other universities.

Today, you will know the average GRE scores accepted at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The Computer Science department at the University of Texas at Arlington requires a minimum GRE score of 1,100. But that doesn’t mean they will not give admission to students with GRE of 1,050.

I have written in detail on how graduate school applications are reviewed and accepted and also in avoiding the 11 common college admission application mistakes.

These posts will definitely help increase your chances to get admission.

Average GRE Scores for UTA

The average GRE scores listed represent scores of students from all the departments in UTA. That will also include master’s degree and PhD programs in UTA.

That doesn’t mean the average score will not be of any use.

Using the GRE score will definitely give you an idea of the chances you have based on your GPA, Percentage, TOEFL, recommendation letter, statement of purpose, resumé, etc.

Graduate Record Exam Score Analysis

From the above table for average GRE, for year 2006 to 2008, we have data for the 25th percentile and 75th percentile.

This means students with scores of 940 and below were given admissions. However, the schools didn’t disclose which department.

Maybe the biology or physics department will give admissions for GRE scores below 900, but I’m sure engineering departments in UTA will need scores of 1,100 are more.

I have similar data for another 20 or more universities and I plan to write them in the coming weeks.

If you like to stay informed, subscribe to email updates using the link below.

If you like to know what other universities, please let me know. I have data for, hmm lemme say, a few names…University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at Dallas, Clemson, and many more.

    Hey all,

It’s been one year I have been in USA. Just came across my 1 year old comment on this same page so thought like commenting here again. Just piece of an advice for the aspirants is not to blindly run behind US education. It’s not a cakewalk. For life sciences this is pretty much tough out here to get job or else PhD admissions. Make you own research when you choose universities. Don’t flock money guzzling overseas consultants. Need any help? Feel free to ask. Best luck for your endeavors.

    • abhimanyu on July 1, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Thanks manish for offering help. Infact i could definitely use some assistance as i am in a fix right now. I took the gre on the 27th of june (with just 6days preperation)…lol. Scored 1130(700Q+430V). Completed my grads in B.E(ECE) with a cgpa of 3.6/4,this year. Have 4 strong LORs. N have completed a project in the field of wireless comm. Have applied for communication engg at:
What do u make of my chances??N also should i get a job experience for 2years,as i got placed in a MNC (that will further strengthen my cv) or should i opt for M.S straightaway(which i m not sure i will get with such a low gre score)??

      • Manish on July 12, 2011 at 2:03 PM

        Hey Abhimanyu,

Sorry for late reply. Are you applying to only four universities. I would suggest to apply at least 7 to 8 universities. Your GRE score is not very bad either. Wireless comm is not my area so it’s difficult for me to comment. But reputation wise you have good chances at first two universities you mentioned above (without experience too). I am not sure about North Carolina n TANM. I think ‘relevant’ work experience will definitely increase your chances at top notch universities. Feel free to contact again. Best Luck!

(2500 euros). Before coming to Europe I was working in a Business School in India which is ranked 12th in FT ranking list and have worked as Teaching Assistant to professors from Kellogg,Wharton,Georgia,UNC and Minnesota others. My Phd topic was decided but my Phd area guide has left for her post doc and I do not just do a Phd deviating from my topic.I am exploring options for a Phd in US.I wanted to apply for US univ and NUS/HKUST but worried if I can make it.My TOEFL score is 105/120. I have a family and a kid who is born a couple of days back but my family is supportive of my decision.I would like to know:

    a) Which kind of Univ should I target for?

    b) Shall I write GRE once more as my score is 2 years old?

    c) Will I get advantage of my MS Research Degree?

    Hello my name is Rohan.

I have completed my 10th and 12th standards from Kolkata, India. with a 83 % percent

I finished my undergraduate studies as a Computer networking and Information security Major from the US.

After completion, I returned home to work in the industry. Lately, my desire to continue studies has been strengthened with the recent insight into the IT industry. I want to learn more and not encircle my life with only 1% of the entire spectrum.

    I have a GRE score of 1320 (Math 760, Verbal 560).

    Toefl – 283/300.

    Undergraduate Gpa – 3.13.

my gre score is 1400 (quants-760 & verbal-640).I have done MBBS under MUHS.have score first class each year(Avg 61%) (but i have failed in my last year.) Sir, i want to know that how much would this failure would cost me.
i want to know about which specilisation should i apply … in Bio medical engineering. Is it good for doctors what opportunities are there …. and what will you suggest amongst clinical research/genetics(MS)/Biomedical engineering ?

    • HSB on April 13, 2009 at 2:45 AM

Manish – Does it really matter? MBBS degree holders try to come to US through any Bio related courses end up taking USMLE exams to get into residency? So, I believe that's what your plan should be too. So, it really doesn't matter what area you plan to apply for MS.

Hi Sumalya i am ashish & hav completed BE(MECH).I also want to do internship in DRDO.Will you please tell of how to enter DRDO?

  69. Raghuram on August 8, 2008 at 10:23 AM

@Sumalya Pal: You have good profile, but I stopped selecting universities personally, and that's the reason I created 12 step University selection process. By now you must have come to know about how much consultancy charge for selecting Universities. It will be around USD 1000 or more. I know its hard process, but I have provided enough information to select universities and following that will definitely help your process.

Having said that, for your score, with right documents, you can get admission with scholarship. Try schools like UTA, UTD, UHCL, UCF, ..

    hello sir,

first of all kudos for all the help that you are giving to the students. i must say that this blog provides the best online resource for a student aspiring for MS in US. Sir can you please evaluate my profile. i am really in a dillema.

i got 1360 in gre . verbal = 580 and quants = 780. i have not received the AWA marks and yet to give toefl exam.

my under graduate CGPA= 8.4 on 10. sir how do i convert this into GPA on 4 grade scale? i received first class with distinction in my undergraduate course. i also have undergone 2 months of unpaid internship at DRDO where i finished my final year project . however i donot have any publications.i want to do MS in EE department with control systems as my major.

can you please suggest me as to which universities i should look for and is there any chance that i have of getting RA or TA from university of virginia, rochester institute of technology and arizona state university.

my email id is [email protected] . i am really looking towards your email since you are the perfect person to take suggestion from over internet as you hold enough knowledge to guide a student towards the right direction.

    thanks and regards
