Which University: I happened to come across your Happy Schools website. I found the contents in it very informative and useful. I am stuck in a weird situation here. I got admits for UTD and Virginia Tech. I already had my visa stamping for UTD before my Virginia tech admit came in. I have two questions at this point in time.
- What is the easiest and safest way to actually transfer my U.S. visa from Dallas to Virginia?
- Another important point to note is that I have an admit into the National Capital Region (Northern Virginia Center) campus of Virginia Tech but not at the main campus at Blacksburg. Is the MS CS in this VTech campus better than the one offered in Dallas?
I kindly request you to answer this query of mine as I am in a very confused state.
Virginia Tech or UTD?
Virginia Tech has a good name and quality of the education; it is also considered as better than UTD.
I would suggest getting transferred is the best option for you.
If you decide to change universities after your first semester (which I would really not advise), you have to do the following.
Find out how many credits can you transfer to VT and take courses at UTD that will be accepted at VT. Also, defer your admission at VT to the next semester.
I assume this student is attending Spring semester. It’s only the end of October, there is still a lot of time left to attend visa interviews again.
My best suggestion is that if you are waiting for admission at better universities, then delay your visa dates as late as you can.
You would need only a week or so to pack your things in your travel to the U.S.
If your classes for Spring semester will start on January 7, you can delay your visa dates ’till the last week of December. This would help you get the I-20 from the college you wanted to study at.
