Cost of Living at University of Southern California, LA
Students trying to decide among U.S. universities have to consider the cost of living at those universities when planning to Study in USA.
The cost of living at universities varies a lot between each city and State in America.
Ashwin @ Cost of MS in US
I received my admit from University of South California. I would be living in LA for that. Please give me an estimate of the living expenses per month. Thanks.
Cost of Living @ USC
Adi, who graduated from USC with an MS in biotechnology sent this short write up that explains the typical cost of living for a student from India at studying at University of Southern California (LA).
To start with, the cost of living in Los Angeles is pretty high when compared to most of the other American cities.
Since USC is located in downtown LA, you need to make sure you live in a safe area. This aspect should be given the most concern and priority.
Usually, a studio apartment in a safe neighborhood around USC will cost around $1,200 and a single bedroom will be around $1,300-$1,500.
I would say after sharing, you need at least $400 (max) for rent. Aside from this, for a normal cost of living, another $200 can add-up. So approximately, you will end-up spending $600 every month.
Students in studying in Texas spend only around $250 to $400 per month.

Firstly, thanks for the informative post.
I am applying to USC Annenberg this spring. As someone mentioned the lack of safety in Downtown, what would be ideal neighborhoods to reside in?
Thanks and apologies for bumping an old thread.

Burbank, Tarzana, Canoga Park, White Oaks, Winnetka, Santa Monica, Mailabu are some areas that are safer to live… usually u can guess from the rent. If u find a cheap place to live, u will come know why cheap…. when u got here u will come to know a lot. Try to live in Dorm for two months so that u can adjust later in the areas of ur choice!
Hi Varun. Thanks for your reply.
Does USC provide on-campus/dorm housing for its Graduate students?
Where are you studying?
I don't study there and for dorm thing you should better check university website.
