Listen all HSB veterans and Administrator, I wrote this letter for securing some financial funding from a university in USA
I’m sharing this letter as you can edit the same for writing a letter to a professor and letting me know if i’m wrong at some place (be it grammatical or technical ) please let me know.
I don’t want leave any stones un-turned before getting admission without any scholarship( which is going to be very hard for my pocket) at least for first semester).
Please do write comment and suggestion as i have to mail this some professor at some university on monday night i.e. 6/September /2010 yes one more thing HSB veterans/Admin can you tell me as an international students is it possible to get a scholarship for first semester by corresponding with the Deptt. Head professor even after securing a admission from the same but without any tution waiver. looking forward for a hearing from you . I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I am XXXX and I have applied and got admission for the Masters of Science (M.S.) program in ZZZ for spring session 2011 at The University of AAA. My undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering and i appeared in G.R.E. and T.O.E.F.L. the official score card are reported at the AAA.
I am writing this application to kindly consider me for any opportunity of Teaching/Graduate/Research Assistantship that are available. I am very keen to be involved in any assistantship/job that is assigned to me, as it will help me gain exposure to various aspects of academic life at the university plus, it will be of great help to me financially.
I am a very quick learner and I excel under pressure. I work very well with teams and have good communication skills. I have experience in providing training to students and colleagues during my undergraduate studies and at my current job.
In 2008 i complted my Industrial training at Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited(B.H.E.L.) in the area of ‘General Awareness in Steam Turbine Manufacturing’. Currently I am perfoming my duties as a Site Engineer for Macawber Beekay (P) Ltc.at National Thermal Power Corporation (N.T.P.C.). Currently my assignment is to oversee and assist in the installation of a Material Handling Plant at N.T.P.C.,a Government of India enterprise in the power sector. Macawber Beekay (P) Ltd. provides technical consultancy in the area of designing , manufacturing, installation and operation of ash handeling plants. I feel good doing my current job as this job is to utilize the fly ash generated by the ESP of the power plant for making cement and other purposes thus reducing air and water pollution.
I am attaching my resume along with this email for your consideration. I am looking forward to hearing from you and joining your esteemed university, which will help me gain knowledge about the latest technologies and processes and hone my technical skills. I feel the last paragraph of your letter could have been written in a better way. Currently its sounding improper.

I feel that you should not ask for funding right away … try asking for a project under the professor … if u had browsed abt your prof …then u'd be aware of his projects … tell him u r interested in his project … and convince him that u r really interested … if u get a project .. then funding will eventually follow it …
if u ask for funding directly …they would jus say that they don't have funding/ positions right now …and you can't proceed further … so try to emphasis on project rather than funding … this is only a suggestion … i appreciate you to consult many ppl before sending ur mail … all the best 🙂
i agree with muthu… don't ask for funding rite away…. probably first rite an email describing your intrests (specially in the project that professor is doing)….and then later you can ask him about funding
Dear @Vaibhav,,,No doubt in your letter body coz its clearly introducing ur achievements as well as ur academic back ground. Of course if prof have any kind if opportunity he will touch you. According to my opinion you should edit first para of your letter.
I am XXXX and have completed B.S. or B.tec(M.E.) with valid GRE & TOEFL score. I have applied for Masters of Science (M.S.) program for spring session 2011 at The University of AAA and I got conformation letter from ur respected university.
#Firstly, write short and sweet coz prof dont have time check out ur whole matter.
#secondly, Dont elaborate everything just mention that u have work experience in these particular form. Write with date of joining & leaving).
